She informed the Commissioners that they were the first <br />board to be created by the City Council in approximately 15 years. <br />The Historic Resources Commissioners introduced 'themselves and gave a brief <br />individual biography. <br />Councilman Richardson welcomed the Commissioners. He shared that the City <br />Council established the Commission to ensure that the community's historic resources <br />are valued and protected for future generations. He challenged the Commission to <br />balance the sometimes competing interests of eco omit feasibility and historic <br />preservation. <br />2. <br />Ms. Linda Tatum, Senior Planner, introduced herself d presented an overview of <br />activities related to historic preservation in the last decade, <br />3. ScoQe of duties for Historic Resources Commission. <br />Mr. Joseph Edwards, Principal Planner, introduced himself and briefly described the <br />responsibilities delegated by the City Council to the Histor1ic Resources Commission. <br />4. S~aration of Commission/staff functions. <br />Mr. Kenneth Adams, Planning Manager, discussed the roles and responsibilities of both <br />staff and the Historic Resources Commission. He informed the Commission that their <br />primary responsibility was to provide policy direction. Staff responsibilities rest <br />primarily in researching and assessing issues as directed by the Commission and in <br />making recommendations to the Commission, <br />i <br />
