• <br />RESOLUTION <br />bk-12!17/09 <br />NO. 2010-0 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA A A APPROVING <br />THE CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 801 NORTH M NTER AVENUE <br />IN THE SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE ZO ING DISTRICT <br />(R1) (HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION <br />APPLICATION NO. 2009-04) <br />• <br />• <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOUF~CES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commissidn of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The applicant is requesting approval of Historic Exterior Modification <br />Application No. 2009-04 to an addition and exterior repairs to the Cooper <br />House at 801 North Minter Street. <br />B. The Cooper House is individually listed o~ the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties and is categorized as andmark. The structure was <br />originally built in 1900 and combines featujres of the Queen Anne (Late <br />Victorian) and Colonial Revival architectural styles. The distinctive <br />architectural design features of this Queen A ne structure are its gable roof, <br />narrow clapboard siding, patterned shingles, applied ornamentation, classic <br />columns atop the porch wall, cutaway porch ~nd wood windows. <br />C. The exterior of the historic Cooper House will be repaired and rehabilitated <br />to preserve the character defining architectural features of the Queen Anne <br />(Late Victorian) and Colonial Revival architectural styles. In particular, the <br />key exterior improvements include: <br />1. Front Elevation. Restore the front parch including reintroducing the <br />low entry seat wall and porch skirt; bath with horizontal wood siding <br />as noted in historic photograph. <br />2. South Elevation. Remove non-original door flanked by the two <br />existing hung wood windows and reintroduce decorative fixed <br />window. Replace non-original wood covering lower portion of both <br />windows with glass. Repair and rest re the banding at the base of <br />window and spanning the house. I troduce two new hung wood <br />windows for the new kitchen location created by the reconfigured <br />floor plan. These new windows will~be distinguished from original <br />windows by more simplified window d tailing and surrounds. <br />Resolution No. 2010-02 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
