• <br />3. East Elevation. Anew rear porch is roposed to frame the existing <br />rear door leading to the backyard. T e porch design includes wood <br />siding, shingle detailing, and Tuscan columns in keeping with the <br />Queen Anne and Colonial Revival architectural styles. Tongue and <br />groove redwood will be used for the ' eck, with two by twelve inch <br />wood entry steps. The features tha will distinguish the new rear <br />porch from the original historic structur will be the variation in shingle <br />shape and size, width of horizontal ood siding, detailing on the <br />support columns, and the introduction f a wood rail and spindles. <br />In addition, south of the proposed rear porch two additional wood <br />windows are proposed for the kitchen; here existing framing <br />suggests windows previously existed. These new windows will <br />include simplified window detailing and surrounds to be distinguished <br />from the other original windows on the structure. <br />4. North Elevation. The existing non riginal aluminum window is <br />proposed to be removed and in-filled~vith wood siding to match the <br />existing house. <br />• <br />• <br />5. Foundation. As part of the new concrete foundation, the original <br />decorative vent on the front elevation 111 be elevated and additional <br />historically appropriate basement vents will be introduced on the <br />south, east and north elevations. A n$w entryway and wood service <br />door will be introduced to access the basement equipment area. <br />D. The architectural detailing and finishes for th se various proposed exterior <br />improvements will be compatible with the hist~ric Queen Anne and Colonial <br />Revival style of the Cooper House. <br />E. Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code section 30-6, the Historic <br />Resources Commission reviewed the application for approval of exterior <br />modifications for the historic Cooper House located to 801 North Minter <br />Avenue. (Historic Exterior Modification Application No. 2009-04). <br />F. Since the property is listed on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties, all exterior modifications are regwired to meet the Secretary of <br />the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. <br />1. The project meets these nationally accepted standards in that <br />structural repairs will be undertaken in the most sensitive way, so as <br />to cause the least damage to surroun ing historic materials thereby <br />meeting Standard Number Nine. <br />2.
