• <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009-1 <br />AK-09/XX/09 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA A A APPROVING <br />THE CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 826 NORTH LACY STREET, <br />(HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION, APPLICATION <br />NO. 2009-01) <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOUF~CES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commissiq'n of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The General Plan land use designation Ifor this site is Low Density <br />Residential (LR-7), and is located within the French Park Specific <br />Development (SD-19) zoning district. <br />B. The proposed site at 826 North Lacy Street is presently vacant, and will be <br />• the new location for the Whitson-Powelson House. The land uses <br />surrounding the subject property include a mixture of single family and <br />multiple family residences to the north, south,,east and west. <br />C. The Whitson-Powelson House is individually listed on the Santa Ana <br />Register of Historical Properties and is categgrized as Key. <br />D. The structure was originally built in 1903 in the Queen Anne (Late Victorian) <br />architectural style. The distinctive architectural design features of this Queen <br />Anne structure are its gable roof, narrow sidiing, patterned shingles, applied <br />ornamentation, classic columns atop the pooch wall, curved four-bay porch <br />and wood windows. <br />E. Once relocated to the proposed location dt 826 North Lacy Street, the <br />exterior of the historic Whitson-Powelson residence will be repaired and <br />rehabilitated to preserve the character defining architectural features of the <br />Queen Anne (Late :Victorian) architectural'style. In particular, the key <br />exterior improvements include: <br />1. Remove non-original exterior northern facing door and bathroom <br />window related to the prior duplex u$e on the north elevation, and <br />infill with siding to match existing house. <br />• 2. Replace metal framed parlor window with radius fixed wood window, <br />with single plate of glass to match the priginal opening. <br />Resolution No. 2009-19 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
