HUD's guidelines are available at <br />http: / /www.hud.gov /offices /lead /lbp /hudciuidelines /index cfm. <br />BUILDING STANDARDS <br />SITE <br />Minimum Standard <br />• The site shall be hazard -free and sanitary. <br />• The site and all paving shall drain away from the <br />dwelling and accessory buildings. <br />• Paving and walkways shall be hazard -free and intact. <br />• Landscaping and irrigation systems shall be hazard -free <br />and in relatively good condition. All dead vegetation shall <br />be removed. <br />• Fencing, walls and gates hazard -free and intact. All <br />gates shall be in good working order. <br />• The site shall be free from trash, debris and hazardous <br />materials. <br />• Accessory buildings shall be safe and sound. <br />Paving <br />• All new paving and walkways shall be constructed with <br />concrete (2,000 PSI @ 28 days). <br />• Driveways shall be reinforced with wire mesh. Sawn <br />expansion- contraction joints shall be placed every 8 feet in <br />both directions. <br />• All paving and walkways shall be finished with a light <br />broom texture. <br />• All walkways shall be at least 3 feet wide. Sawn <br />expansion-contraction joints shall be placed every 4 feet. <br />Landscaping & <br />• To the extent possible and practical all new landscaping <br />Irrigation <br />shall be drought resistant. <br />• When a lawn is being replaced, the new lawn area shall <br />be reduced to aid in the reduction of water consumption. <br />• New irrigation controllers shall be weather or sensor <br />based and EPA Water -Sense qualified. <br />• All new irrigation systems shall be designed to conserve <br />water. <br />Fences, Walls & Gates <br />• All new wood fences shall be made from good quality <br />materials. They shall be properly supported with 4X4 <br />pressure treated posts (8 feet O.C) and 2X4 rails (top and <br />bottom).
