Policy 6.2 Development near an existing landmark must be supportive and <br /> respectful of the architecture, site, and other design features of the <br /> landmark. <br /> 3.3.E Santa Ana Register ®f Historical Pr®perties <br /> The Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties ~SARHP~ was established under Chapter 30 of the <br /> Santa Ana h~unicipal Code, overseen by the Historic Resources Commission, the SARHP may <br /> include "any building or part thereof, object, structure, or site having importance to the history ar <br /> architecture of the city."~~ To be eligible far designation, a property must be 50 years old and satisfy <br /> at least one of six criteria: <br /> 1, Buildings, structures, ar objects with distinguishing characteristics of an <br /> architectural style or period that exemplify a particular architectural style or design <br /> features <br /> Works of notable architects, builders, or designers whose style influenced <br /> architectural development <br /> 3. Rare buildings, structures, or objects or original designs <br /> 4. Buildings, structures, objects or sites of historical significance that include places: <br /> a. Where important events occurred <br /> b. Associated with famous people, original settlers, renowned organizations <br /> and businesses <br /> c. Which were originally present when the city was founded <br /> d. That served as important centers for political, social, economic, or cultural <br /> activity <br /> 5. Sites of archaeological importance <br /> 6. Buildings or structures that were connected with a business or use that was once <br /> common but is now rare <br /> Properties placed an the SARHP are categorized atone of three levels of significance: <br /> Landmark category; <br /> a~ The building, structure, object ar site is on the National Register or appears to be <br /> eligible to be placed an the register <br /> b. The building, structure, object ar site is on the State Register or appears to be <br /> eligible to be placed on the register <br /> c. The building, structure, abject or site has histariclcultural significance to the City <br /> d. The building, structure, abject ar site has a unique architectural significance <br /> Bey category: <br /> a. The building, structure, object or site has a distinctive architectural style and quality <br /> b.
