Constructed circa 1901, this <br /> one~story residence has been so altered that its original architecture! style can no longer be <br /> discerned with certainty. ~t has lost its integrity of design, materials, setting, workmanship, feeling, <br /> and association. Alterations include a new roof and fascia, substitution of stucco exterior cladding <br /> for the original wood, replacement and resizing of original windows, modification of the porch, <br /> and complete removal of any original architectural detailing, The building's exterior appearance no <br /> longer reflects its period of construction. <br /> Historical research has not located any information regarding the historical associations of the <br /> building as significant to the history and development of the City of Santa Ana, No associations <br /> with important events; famous people; original settlers; renowned organizations or businesses; or <br /> important centers far political, social, economic, or cultural activity in the City of Santa Ana were <br /> identified at this property. Constructed circa 1901, the building was not present when the City of <br /> Santa Ana was founded in 189. The property, built as a single~family residence, was built during <br /> the primary period of residential development in the Lacy neighborhood from 1895 to 1930, when <br /> single-family residences and duplexes were the predominant property types in the area. The property displays same of the basic character- <br /> defining features of the property type, including the one-story height; low pitched, front-gabled <br /> roof, full-width recessed porch with square posts; and squared Palladian attic vent in gable end. <br /> Although the property retains sufficient integrity to recall its earlier appearance, it lacks the <br /> distinguishing architectural characteristics that exemplify Craftsman bungalows in Santa Ana, and <br /> superior examples of this property type have been identified and designated elsewhere in the City. <br /> The property does not qualify for designation in the SARHP under Criterion 1 ar the NRHPICRHR <br /> under Criterion CI3. <br /> The property is also not significant under NRHPICRHR Criteria A11, PI2, or D14 or under SARHP <br /> Criteria Z, 3, 4, 5, or Historical research has not located any information regarding the historical <br /> associations of the building as significant to the history and development of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> Na associations with important events; famous people; original settlers; renowned organizations or <br /> businesses; or important centers for political, social, economic, or cultural activity in the City of <br /> Santa Ana were identified at this property.
