• Quarterly recognitions, field trips, and other activities to build positive social interactions. <br />ORIENTATION (Three days,, 27 hours of training) <br />• Introduction to the Orange County Conservation Corps Program <br />• Review corpsmember policies and procedures <br />• Complete eight hours of community activism awareness <br />• Complete eight hours of conservation awareness <br />• Learn proper tool use and safety <br />PAID WORK EXPERIENCE <br />• Field-based vocational and occupational skills training; <br />• Develop positive work ethic/attitude/performance; <br />• Individualized job specific skill training and certifications; <br />• Crew based and individual leadership development; <br />• Community service opportunities; <br />• Team building and other crew/peer centered activities to develop responsibility and <br />positive social interactions. <br />• On the job training; internshipsform four hours of hands-on field work <br />INDIVIDUALIZED CASE MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT SERVICES Referrals for comprehensive guidance and <br />counseling for legal, medical, substance abuse, family/personal, health, housing, etc. issues <br />ADULT MENTORING <br />CORPS-2-CAREER: 10-13 weeks based on individual needs <br />• Pre-employment skills training <br />• Individualized job search and placement <br />• Individualized support/assistance for continuing post-secondary education; financial aid packets, <br />enrolling on-line, etc. <br />• Individualized case management and support services <br />• Adult mentoring <br />• Life skills <br />PROGRAM COMPLETION. 60-day timeline for post-corps placement; may be extended based on <br />individual needs or circumstances <br />POST CORPS TRACKING: Minimum of 12 months, available as long as former orpsmembers <br />seek help and support. <br />• One-on-one follow up; monthly contact to monitor, update, and revise 12-month plan as needed; <br />• One-on-one employment search and support; <br />• One-on-one case management and support services <br />5. Describe when participants will receive supportive services. The Orange County Conservation Corps <br />will provide the WIA Corpsmembers with supportive services as needed and in accordance with the <br />participants' ISS (Individual Service Strategy). <br />6. Describe how training and employment services lead to occupations in high growth/high demand <br />industries. Employment services that are provided through the Corps-2-Career class lead to occupations <br />inhigh growth/high demand industries. WIA Corpsmembers in the Corps-2-Career class use the <br />0*NET Interest Profiler'"' compatible with Holland's R-1-A-S-E-C Interest Structure (Holland, 1985) to <br />assess their career occupational interest. Based on the obtained results, the WIA Corpsmembers <br />research the jobs on 0*NET to obtain expected job growth, wages and educational requirements. <br />Subsequently, depending on the training that is needed, Corpsmembers are referred to ROP, <br />Community Colleges, Apprenticeship Programs and Technical Schools. Additionally, presenters are <br />scheduled from a variety of high-demand industries including green jobs, medical careers, etc. <br />7 <br />Exhibit A
