o Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. <br />o Any holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the <br />holiday. <br />8.2 Each Part Time Civil Service employee shall be entitled to receive pay for six (6) hours <br />for each of the holidays specified in 8.1 above. This shall equate to a total of 72 hours <br />per calendar year. <br />8.3 A newly appointed employee must actually work at least one (1) day preceding the day a <br />holiday listed in Section 8.1, supra, actually occurs in order to receive credit for such <br />holiday during the month in which it occurs. <br />An employee separating from the service of the City must actually work at least one (1) <br />day following the day a holiday listed in Section 8.1, supra, actually occurs in order to <br />receive compensation for the holiday. <br />A newly appointed employee must complete six (6) months of continuous Part Time <br />Civil Service in order to receive credit for the Floating Holiday listed in Section 8.1 <br />above. <br />8.4 Holiday benefits may not be carried over from one (1) calendar year to the next. <br />ARTICLE IX <br />9.0 VACATION <br />9.1 Purpose. It is the policy of the City to grant employees vacation leave in order to provide <br />them with a break in their regular work schedule and this purpose will be used as a guide <br />in the administration of the provisions of this Article. <br />9.2 Administration. <br />A. Effective July 1, 2005, the City and Union agree to increase each Part Time Civil <br />Service employee's annual vacation accrual from 30 hours to 72 hours. In order <br />to effectuate this increase for the 2005-06 fiscal year, effective with the paycheck <br />of June 20, 2006, each Part Time Civil Service employee shall be credited with an <br />additional 42 hours vacation leave. Beginning July 1, 2006 and each month <br />thereafter, each employee shall earn six (6) hours per month of vacation, for a <br />total maximum accrual of 72 hours per year. <br />B. A Part Time Civil Service employee who has completed less than one year's <br />service during the calendar year shall receive a proportionate fraction in <br />accordance with the amount of service to his or her credit during the year;, <br />provided, however, no Part Time Civil Service employee shall be entitled to or <br />receive payment for any vacation until he or she has completed six (6) months of <br />continuous service. <br />21 <br />25A-23
