[I E3 on Reading <br />) � PRO ❑Ordinance on 2 I d Reading <br />086019) ❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />;v :I< MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to STL Landscape, the lowest responsible bidder, in accordance with unit bid <br />prices for the base bid plus add -on Alternate Two in the estimated amount of $111,500, for <br />construction of the McFadden Triangle Habitat Restoration. <br />2. Approve a funding analysis with a total estimated construction cost of $149,870. <br />3. Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $16,265 in the Parks District 4 A & D Fund <br />Account (31413260- 66220) for the McFadden Triangle Habitat Restoration. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The McFadden Triangle is a triangular- shaped undeveloped dirt lot adjacent to the Santa Ana <br />River Recreational Trail north of McFadden Avenue (Exhibit 1). The Santa Ana River Vision Plan, <br />which was adopted by the City Council on August 7, 2006, identified this property as an area of <br />opportunity in that it could be developed into a trail -side rest area for pedestrians and cyclists. The <br />proposed project includes decomposed granite paths, benches, bike racks, drought - tolerant <br />landscaping, sycamore trees, and an irrigation system. Add -on Alternate Two provides for <br />recycling receptacles, river rock bollards, and a dry streambed. The improvements will provide a <br />space for trail users to rest as well as view the existing habitat area. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on August 24 and 25, 2011, and bids were opened on <br />September 8, 2011.
