REQUEST FOR HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY ACTION <br />MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER 6, 2003 <br />TITLE: <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH <br />MILES INVESTIGATIONS, INC. <br />EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />b ucalioh ��'f <br />RECORDING SECRETARY USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />CONTINUED TO <br />Direct the Authority General Counsel to prepare, and authorize the <br />Executive Director to execute, an amendment to the agreement between the <br />Housing Authority and Miles Investigations, Inc. for an additional <br />$25,000 and to extend the term of the contract to June 30, 2004. <br />COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br />Recommended that the Housing Authority direct the Authority General <br />Counsel to prepare, and authorize the Executive Director to execute, an <br />amendment to the agreement between the Housing Authority and Miles <br />Investigations, Inc. for an additional $25,000 and to extend the term of <br />the contract to June 30, 2004. <br />By a vote of 7:0 at its Regular Meeting of September 2, 2003. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Choice <br />Voucher rental assistance program depends upon complete and accurate <br />disclosure of clients' income, expenses, allowances and household <br />composition. HUD recommends that local Housing Authorities create a <br />Tenant Integrity Program (TIP) to assure assistance is provided only to <br />eligible individuals and families. As part of the Santa Ana Housing <br />Authority's TIP, Miles Investigations, Inc., a private .investigation <br />firm, was contracted to provide investigative services.
