Award a contract to Bannaoun Engineers Constructors Corp., the lowest responsible bidder, in <br />accordance with unit bid prices in the estimated amount of $243,150 for construction of <br />omnibus concrete replacement. <br />3. Approve a funding analysis with a total estimated construction cost of $296,800. <br />DISCUSSION <br />This project will provide for replacement of damaged and deteriorated concrete sidewalk, curbs, <br />gutters, cross gutters, wheelchair ramps, driveway approaches, and concrete pavement at various <br />locations throughout the city. The work will be performed on an as-needed basis. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on September 28 & 29, 2011 and bids were opened on <br />October 19, 2011. A summary of the bid invitations mailed, the bids received, and the bid results <br />follows. <br />Santa Ana contractors receiving notices: 8 <br />Contractors requesting bidding documents: 20 <br />Bids received: 7 <br />Bids received from Santa Ana contractors: <br />While the City made outreach efforts to Santa Ana contractors regarding the notice inviting bids, <br />only one of the eight Santa Ana contractors submitted a bid as a prime contractor: Hardy and <br />Harper. The other seven Santa Ana contractors did not submit a bid because they are not capable <br />of performing this type of work, or they work as a subcontractor to other prime contractors. <br />23A-1
