I. GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The City is soliciting proposals from professional consulting firms to provide <br />engineering surveying services for various construction projects on an as- needed <br />basis. The annual amount for the contract shall not exceed $240,000. The <br />contract shall be for a period of two years, starting from the date the contract is <br />executed by the City, with provision for a one -year renewal. Funds not spent in <br />the year of allocation will be accumulated. <br />The work consists of survey monument preservation and construction staking for <br />local streets, arterial streets, and public properties citywide. The projects may <br />include storm drain or sanitary sewer improvements; sidewalks, curb and gutter <br />replacement; slurry seal of residential streets; construction and overlay of asphalt <br />concrete and /or PCC streets; and other related work as required. <br />The proposal shall be limited to fifteen (15) pages, excluding any appended <br />materials. A cover letter shall summarize key factors and guarantee that key <br />personnel will be committed to perform the required tasks throughout the <br />duration of the contract. <br />II. PROPOSED SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />In general, the Consultant shall perform monument preservation and <br />construction staking for various City projects on an as- needed basis. A <br />California - licensed land surveyor shall be in responsible charge of all survey <br />work performed under the contract. <br />The Consultant's services shall include, but not be limited to, the following: <br />A. Research existing County and City records for survey monuments within the <br />project area. <br />B. Prior to any clearing, removal, or excavation efforts, perform a diligent search <br />for property line monuments, street centerline monuments, and benchmarks <br />within the project area, recording their identities and precise locations in <br />reference to monuments or witness monuments that will not be disturbed <br />during construction. The records of these monuments and references shall <br />conform to Section 8771 of the Business and Professions Code of the State <br />of California. After completion of the construction, any monument disturbed <br />or removed during construction shall be reset, conforming to Section 8771. <br />Each centerline intersection shall be drawn on a single Corner Record <br />showing local tie points and tie distances. The Corner Records shall be <br />drafted in Microstation (version 8 or earlier), and a digital copy of each <br />submitted to the City. <br />C. Provide construction staking for project improvements. Records of the line <br />and grade stakes (cut sheets) shall be on forms provided by the City, and the <br />originals shall become the property of the City upon completion of each <br />survey request. <br />3 <br />
