ATTACHMENT A 2011-DJ-BX-2532 <br />City: FOUNTAIN VALLEY <br />The City of Fountain Valley proposes to use the 2011 Justice Assistance Grant funding as follows: <br />To purchase Level 3 ballistic helmets for Patrol, Detectives and SWAT Officers. <br />Purpose Areas: <br />Law enforcement <br />Program Narrative: <br />The purpose of the program is to provide protection to Officers responding to calls for Police service. <br />This "protection" will be accomplished via the purchase of ballistic helmets with eye shields. Currently, <br />no budgeted funds exist to purchase the items. The helmets currently in service are 20-plus years old with <br />no ballistic or eye protection. <br />Goals of the project: <br />To provide ballistic helmets with eye protection to Officers responding to critical incidents. These <br />helmets will offer Level 3 ballistic protection from firearms and eye protection, which does not exist in <br />the current equipment inventory. <br />Strategies to be used for project: <br />The ballistic helmets will be issued to each individual Officer. Patrol, Detective and SWAT Officers will <br />have the helmets available to them within arm's reach while on duty. When Officers respond to critical <br />incidents in the field, they will don the ballistic helmets providing them Level 3 protection and eye <br />protection they currently do not have access to. <br />Proiect identifiers: <br />Officer safety <br />Budget and Budget Narrative: <br />Equipment: Helmet 3A PASGT with comfort system.
