Santa Atia Proposal for Emergency Services <br />Fire Prevention Department <br />'Phe hire Prevention 1Jcpartmcnt, under the leadership of an Assistant Chief, contributes to <br />community safety and prosperity through the systematic mitigation of risk. Staff review design and construction <br />plans, working closely with architects, engineers, and consultants following the <br />planning pre.~cess to ensure. Char the California and lntcrnatic~nal lire Code <br />reyuire.n~ents are met prior to issuance. of grading and/or building pernuts. They <br />also conduct inspections of all consu-uct-ion projects- <br />Safety and Environmental Services <br />'1'hc Safety and 1?nvironmental Services Section assists stakeholders such as <br />businesses, partner agency staff, first rc pondcrs_ environmental regulatory agencies, <br />and the. genera] public in maintaining and enhancing sale communities- L-',ach division <br />otticc provides a high level of lift safety by: (1) ensuring that minimum state and <br />local codes are met, (2) responding in a timely manner to cities complaints <br />regarding fire hazards, (3) working closely with local civic groups to ensure code <br />compliance with the special events tl-rey sponsor, and (-1) providing training and <br />assistance with fire prevention issues to C>pcrations L7epartment personnel and (5) <br />implcrncnting the [ Iazardous Matc°rials Business l~:mergency Plan, and the California <br />Accidental Kcleasc Prevention (formerly R1~4PP) Programs_ <br />Orange County Fire Authority 22 of 50 December 2. 201 1 <br />
