Santa Aria Proposal for Emergency Services <br />Apparatus <br />In order for the C>rangc County I=1re Authority to provide fire and emergency medical <br />service protection to the City of Santa Ana, the following apparatus will transition to the <br />OCF.\: <br />• (8) Typc I h.ngincs (2953 J, 59533, 29540, 29523, 59365, 58696, 59502, 58695) <br />• (1) "I'elcSquirt (59318) <br />• (3) Tractor Drawn t\crials (58415, 59520, 57567) <br />• (2) Command Suburbans (29501, 29500) <br />• (5) Chevy Colorado's (59799, 59800, 59802, 59712, 59713) <br />• (1) Deputy Chief (59820) <br />• (1) Air Light Unit (59534) <br />• (1) Hazardous Materials Unit (29518) <br />The City will lease to the OCFA at no cost all current fire department vehicles and apparatus <br />necessary to maintain service within the City of Santa Ana as outlined above. The. apparatus <br />will be incorporated into the Fire Authority's vehicle rotation and replacement plans and <br />preventative maintenance program. Currently, an engine. is expected to obtain <br />approxitnatcly 120,000 miles during a life span of approximately fifteen (15) years. <br />Throughout the engine or truck's service life, it will be rotated between busy and slow <br />stations to allow the maximum life expectancy to be reached. C~CI^A acknowledges the <br />restriction of moving specitic special Funded units outside of the City. "1'he replacement cost <br />of cash vehicle is based on the anticipated price in the year of purchase divided by the years <br />of expected service. <br />Each of the fleet's more than 500 vehicles is scheduled for preventative maintenance, based <br />on nvleage. and use to ensure safety and response capability. "1'he Automotive Section tracks <br />each vehicle's nvlcage, use, performance, and repairs. if a trend develops due to increased <br />vehicle failure or need for repair, maintenance schedules arc adjusted as necessary to correct <br />any problems or potential problems. If any apparatus develops ongoing issues, the vehicle's <br />use and life span are re-evaluated and adjusted accordingly. <br />The routine fleet maintenance of Fire Authority vehicles is normally performed at our <br />headquarters facility in Ir~rine, and relieF equipment is placed in service while the unit is c>ut <br />f<~r maintenance. All Santa Ana units have. been rc~-icwcd and evaluated by our I~lcet <br />Services Section. <br />Equipment currently assigned to the Fire Department and not reyuestcd by OCFA will <br />return to the City, or, the City may choose to have <7C1~A sell the equipment on public <br />Auction with the monies gained from the sale applied to the contract. <br />Orange County Fire Authority 33 of 50 December 2. 201 1 <br />
