ARTICLE IV <br />4.0 SALARIES <br />4.1 Basic Compensation Plan. There is hereby established a basic compensation plan for all <br />members of the Santa Ana Police Officers Association who are now employed or will in the <br />future be employed in any of the designated classifications of employment listed in this <br />Agreement and its attachments. <br />4.2 Salary Schedule. The basic salary schedule, attached hereto in a matrix format as Exhibit A, <br />and made a part hereof as though set forth in full herein, provides numerous salary rate <br />ranges, each comprised of five (5) steps or rates of pay. <br />The respective rate ranges are identified by a three (3) digit number. The steps within each <br />range are identified by the letters "A" through "E" inclusive, with the "A" step being the <br />lowest step in the range. The purpose of each step and the length of service required for <br />advancement to the next higher step within a particular salary rate range are set forth in <br />Section 4.7 below. <br />4.3 Salary Adjustments. <br />A. The base salaries of employees covered by this Agreement shall be adjusted as <br />follows: <br />Effective July 1, 2008, the base salary of employees covered by this Agreement shall <br />be increased by eight (8) salary rate ranges (approximately 4%). <br />Effective January 1, 2009, the base salary of employees covered by this Agreement <br />shall be increased by five (5) salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5%). <br />Effective July 1, 2010, the base salary of employees covered by this Agreement shall <br />be increased by zero (0) salary rate ranges. <br />Effective January 1, 2011, the base salary of employees covered by this Agreement <br />shall be increased by zero (0) salary rate ranges. <br />Effective July 1, 2011, the base salary of employees covered by this Agreement shall <br />be increased by six (6) salary rate ranges (approximately 3%). Effective December <br />1, 2011, employees shall contribute 2% (of the 3% salary increase received on July 1, <br />2011) of their salary increase to pay for employer portion of the City's PERS <br />contribution as more fully addressed below in Section 13.5. This contribution shall <br />be paid in accordance with Government Code section 20516(f). <br />Effective July 1, 2012, the base salary of employees covered by this Agreement shall <br />be increased by seven (7) salary rate ranges (approximately 3.5%). Effective on July <br />1, 2012, employees covered by this Agreement shall contribute the increase received <br />on that date to pay for employer portion of the City's PERS contribution as more <br />
