• Herb Rose, disestablishment of PBID, thanked Councilmember Tinajero and Mayor <br />Pro Tern Alvarez for support of disestablishment; would like to make note of the <br />recent report by the Grand Jury; does not support destruction of records; and urged <br />the City Council not to approve Agenda Item 19D. <br />o Mayor Pulido noted that Item 19D would be continued for 2 weeks. <br />• Barbara DesRochers, owner of Country Garden Caterers, opined that PBID illegally <br />established; Grand Jury also concerned with establishment. <br />• David Hoen, commented on pending lawsuit on Measure D; opined that voter intent <br />was not to reset the clock; if debatable, then rescind Measure. <br />• Laura Garibay, member of SACReD, urged the City Council to consider Sunshine <br />Ordinance; would increase transparency, accountability and community involvement; <br />requested meeting with Mayor. <br />• Jose Moreno, President of Los Amigos, urged the City Council to adopt Sunshine <br />Ordinance to increase public confidence in local government and quality of life. <br />• Jeannie Gillett, representative of "Save Our Orchard Coalition", has been working on <br />saving property since February, 2012; also supports Sunshine Ordinance that would <br />allow for inclusionary provisions on projects such as the Sexlinger project. <br />• Mayra Mejia, representative of Latino Health Access and working with SACReD to <br />support Sunshine Ordinance; many needs in the community especially open space, <br />would allow for better participation in decision-making process. <br />• Daisy Gonzalez, representative of the Kennedy Commission, spoke in support of <br />Sunshine Ordinance, urged the City Council to adopt version as close to proposed <br />ordinance as possible. <br />• Alicia Acuna, concerned with maintenance of City parks. <br />• Bobi Keenan, resident of Washington Square, opined that Measure D's intent was <br />four additional years to Councilmembers; opined that Max Madrid should be <br />removed from the Board of Parks and Recreation for suing the City. <br />• Jose Guadalupe Mata, coordinator of Los Amigos de Santa Ana, urged the City to <br />re-establish the "Somos Hispanos" office that was headed by former Police Officer <br />Jose Vargas; also submitted complaint letter to Mayor Pro Tern Alvarez on <br />residential concerns in the Ward 5 area. <br />• Tish Leon, spoke in opposition to lawsuit filed regarding Measure D; supports <br />Sunshine Ordinance that will help with transparency and re-establish representation <br />and trust. <br />• Sam Romero, supports recent report by the Grand Jury on PBID; urged the City <br />Council to disestablish and stop funding Downtown Inc. <br />• Fina Chaves, thanked Councilmember Tinajero for supporting Mayor Pro Tern <br />Alvarez with disestablishment of PBID. <br />• George Garcia, expressed concern with public safety and recent shootings; also <br />spoke on fraudulent advertising by some businesses. <br />• Cesar Medina, represents Los Amigos de Santa Ana, supports "Asuntos Hispanos" <br />(Hispanic Affairs); recommends the City Council open up office again to address <br />violence. <br />• Claudia Arellanes, thanked Councilmember Tinajero and Mayor Pro Tern Alvarez for <br />supporting disestablishment of PBID. <br />• Jeff Dickman, resident of historic French Park, spoke on voter intent of Measure D to <br />allow for 3 full-terms; supports Sunshine Ordinance. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 4 JULY 16, 2012 <br />1 0A-4
