Page 18 of 41 <br />The contractor shall turn off irrigation systems during periods of rainfall <br />and times when suspension of irrigation is desirable to conserve water <br />while remaining within the guidelines of EWA. <br />a. When the Director acknowledges the necessity to turn on the water <br />once again, all controllers shall be activated within twenty-four (24) <br />hours. After 24 hours should the Contractor not turn irrigation <br />systems back on, the Director may, at his discretion, elect to <br />activate the controllers with City forces and deduct time plus <br />overhead from the Contractors monthly invoice. <br />4) Inspection and Reporting <br />a. The Contractor shall physically inspect (by manual or semi- <br />automatically running the Controller) the operation of all systems <br />one (1) time per month. The Contractor shall maintain all sprinkler <br />systems in such a way as to guarantee proper coverage and full <br />working capability, and make whatever adjustments necessary to <br />prevent excessive overspray/runoff into street right-of-ways or other <br />areas not intended to receive irrigation overspray/runoff. The <br />Contractor shall repair at his own expense any irrigation head and <br />lateral line rendered inoperable or malfunction due to attrition, <br />vandalism, etc. <br />b. A visual inspection by the Contractors Irrigation Technician of all <br />irrigated areas shall occur, more often, but not less than one (1) <br />time per week. All automated irrigation areas not receiving full <br />coverage shall be irrigated by a portable irrigation method. The <br />contractor shall fumish all hoses, nozzles, sprinklers, etc., <br />necessary to accomplish this supplemental irrigation. Care shall be <br />exercised to prevent a waste of water, erosion, and/or detrimental <br />seepage into existing underground improvements or structures. <br />C. Contractor shall submit an irrigation report to the Director every <br />month. The report shall be of the format required by the Director <br />and shall include, but not be limited to, controller location, type of <br />controller, number of stations, run times for each station, turf or <br />shrub irrigation and repairs made for each station and what <br />maintenance is necessary to bring an irrigation system up to full <br />capability. <br />5) Repairs <br />a. The Contractor shall be responsible for repairs to the irrigation <br />system, from irrigation head to the water meter, when there is a <br />system failure.
