Page 17 of 41 <br />replace the plant with like species and size at no extra cost to the <br />city. <br />G. IRRIGATION SYSTEM MAINTENANCE <br />1) General Responsibilities <br />a. Irrigation shall be applied by the use of automatic or mechanical <br />irrigation systems. The Contractor shall be responsible for <br />providing appropriate supplemental irrigation when there is a <br />system failure. The Contractor shall relieve stress in a landscape <br />area by semi-automatically or manually running the irrigation <br />systems. <br />b. Newly planted trees, shrubs, ground cover and turf shall receive <br />special attention until these plants are established. Adequate water <br />shall be applied to promote normal healthy growth. Proper berms <br />or basins shall be maintained during the establishment period. <br />C. Any damages to public or private property resulting from excessive <br />irrigation water or irrigation water runoff shall be charged against <br />the Contract payment unless immediate repairs are made by the <br />Contractor to the satisfaction of the Director. <br />2) Operation of Automatic Irrigation Controllers <br />Where the operation of automatic irrigation controllers is required as part <br />of this contract, the Contractor shall: <br />a. Not duplicate any coded City key furnished by the Parks, <br />Recreation & Community Services Agency for access and <br />operation of the controller. <br />b. Surrender all keys furnished by the Parks, Recreation &Community <br />Services Agency at the end of the contract period, or at any time <br />deemed necessary by the Director to prevent serious loss to the <br />City of Santa Ana. <br />C. Protect the security of City property by keeping controller cabinet <br />and building doors locked at all times. <br />d. Refrain from using premises behind locked doors for storage of <br />materials, supplies or tools, except as approved by the Executive <br />Director. <br />e. Program normal irrigation between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and <br />4:00 a.m. <br />3) Water Conservation
