City of Santa Ana <br />Ms. Lucy Linnaus, Senior Planner <br />Apri14, 2012 <br />Page ~ <br />All associates are required to take and pass the Alcohol Sales Compliance Compufer- <br />Based Learning ("CBL") module, This CBL contains key information, including, <br />among other things, the following: <br />• Informing the associate of the applicable laws relating to the sale of alcohol, <br />including the importance of compliance. <br />• Instruction that the associate must decline fo sell an alcoholic beverage product <br />if the circumstances reasonably suggest that selling the product would violate <br />the law or this policy. <br />• A review of the applicable law and this policy and procedures relating to <br />requiring identification, including: {~) The age that Niggers the identification <br />require>.nent; (2} acceptable forms of identification; {3) features from a form of <br />identification that must be checked, with particular emphasis on the <br />government-issued forms of identification most commonly used in the local <br />area, including the driver's Iicense issued in the particular state. <br />• Sales registers are programmed to prompt for government-issued <br />identification for all alcoholic beverage sales. <br />As stated, each associate at the store must complete this CBL and receive a 100% score <br />on the test for the module. 1Jaeh associate must be retrained annually. A copy of <br />Walmart's Responsible Vendor of Alcohol Summary is attached for reference. <br />As is required by the existing conditions of approval and state law, Walmart has <br />posted signs prohibiting loitering and consumption of alcohol on the premises and <br />adjacent property under its control. The signs read as follows: (a) "No open alcoholic <br />beverage containers are allowed on these premises"; and (b} "No loitering is allowed." <br />Walmart has been selling beer and wine from this loration since August 2009, and has <br />not had any A13C violations related to the sale of alcohol.
