ARTICLE X <br />10.0 VACATION <br />10.1 Purpose. It is the policy of the City to grant employees vacation leave in <br />order to provide them with a break in their regular work schedule and this <br />purpose shall be used as a guide in the administration of the provisions of this <br />Article. <br />10.2 Regular Vacation Period. <br />A. Full-time permanent and probationary employees covered by this <br />Agreement shall be granted regular vacation at the rate of ten (10) <br />working days for each of his or her first and second completed year of <br />service, accrued at the rate of six and two-thirds (6 2/3) hours for each <br />completed month of service. Thereafter, all such employees shall be <br />granted regular vacation at the rate of fifteen (15) working days for <br />each completed year of service, accrued at the rate of ten (10) <br />working hours for each completed month of service. <br />B. An employee who has completed less than one year's service during <br />the calendar year shall receive a proportionate fraction in <br />accordance with the amount of service to his or her credit during the <br />year; provided, however, no employee shall be entitled to, or receive <br />payment for, any vacation until he or she has completed six (6) months <br />of continuous service. <br />C. On or after the first (1 st) day of the month following completion of six (6) <br />months of continuous full-time service, an employee may be allowed <br />to take all or a proportionate fraction of his or her earned vacation, <br />subject to scheduling approval of the employee's supervisor. <br />D. Vacation time off may be taken in increments as small as one-half ('/2) <br />hour, with fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher <br />multiple of one-half (1/2). <br />E. Upon completion of two (2) years of continuous service, each <br />employee must take at least five (5) consecutive working days of <br />vacation each year thereafter. <br />F. Computation of Regular Vacation. <br />In computing regular vacation, each municipal holiday that <br />occurs during the vacation, and that falls on a day which the <br />CONFIDENTIAL ASSOCIATION OF SANTA ANA (CASA) MOU: 2010 - 2014 Page 35 <br />25A-37
