The purpose of the program is to protect Orange County beaches and
waterways from transportation- generated pollution (urban runoff), and improve overall water
quality.
This project consists of installing an off -line Continuous Deflective Separation (CDS) unit in the
storm drain system to remove trash and debris, and prevent sediment, oil, and grease from
entering the Santa Ana Delhi Channel, which drains into Newport Bay, as shown in Exhibit 2.
The proposed device is a precast concrete unit and it will be installed underground. The CDS
unit will capture trash and debris, and will need to be periodically cleaned out to remove the
intercepted waste.
