13 <br />KidWorks has administered government funded projects through the Santa Ana Federal <br />Empowerment Zone, Cal -GRIP, and a preschool contract through the California Department of <br />Education. KidWorks is highly capable of administering government funded programs and <br />reporting financial and participant performance data as required. KidWorks will meet the <br />accountability requirements and administrative measures developed to track service goals and <br />income and expenses related to the CareerWorks Program. Under close monitoring of the <br />Director of Finance and the Program Director, an annual budget is used to plan expenditures and <br />costs, which is approved by the Board of Directors, including four professionals in the finance <br />industry. In addition, KidWorks ensures that an annual audit is performed by an independent <br />auditor. The auditor examines the financial statements, internal controls, and all related financial <br />processes. The annual audits are conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards <br />in order to ensure proper financial reporting and compliance with provisions of laws, regulations, <br />contracts, and grant agreements. KidWorks operates with an Accounting Policies & Procedures <br />Manual. Please see attachment. <br />Monthly invoices will be submitted to the Santa Ana W/OWK Center including the WIA invoice <br />form, cover sheet and line item invoice, payroll records, copies of receipts, and copies of <br />canceled checks, if necessary. KidWorks is able to provide monthly invoices for services <br />provided. Revenue and expenses will be accounted for in the general ledger by account and <br />grant. Cost reports and invoices will be prepared by the Director of Finance who has been an <br />accountant for 12 years including 9 years in the non-profit sector. <br />KidWorks' annual operating budget for FY 2011/12 was $2,294,659 and the current year's <br />budget is $2,706,412. Last year, KidWorks secured revenue from the following sources: <br />foundations- 49.5%; fundraising events- 16.3%; government grants- 9.6%; volunteer hours - <br />8.1%, individual contributions- 7.3%; corporate grants- 3.9%; in-kind donations- 2.9%; earned <br />income and program fees- 1.3%; and church donations- 1.1%. <br />In 2013/14, we will continue to leverage resources through the service of volunteers and <br />collaborations with other service providers (including Santa Ana College, Taller San Jose, The <br />Cambodian Family, Human Options, and Latino Health Access). We have secured funding <br />commitments from foundations, corporations, and government agencies including The California <br />Endowment, Weingart Foundation, Children & Families Commission of Orange County, Sacred <br />Harvest, Orange County United Way, and the California Department of Education. <br />XV. Subcontracting <br />KidWorks will use Paychex as a subcontractor to provide payroll services for youth in the <br />CareerWorks Program. In order to set up a payroll account exclusively for the WIA youth, it <br />will cost $300 per pay period. We will pay the youth monthly for a period of 10 months equaling <br />an estimated cost of $3,000. KidWorks will also subcontract with Fohrman & Fohrman, <br />Incorporated to provide accounting services. This administrative cost for payroll with Paychex <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
