Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve a side letter agreement to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Police Officers <br />Association regarding wages and other terms and conditions of employment. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City and the Police Officers Association (POA) recently completed contract negotiations <br />resulting in a new, two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) (Attachment 1). The MOU <br />covers the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015. This agreement will modify the existing <br />MOU (Attachment 2) and will be part of a comprehensive MOU to be brought forward at a later <br />date. <br />The provisions of this agreement include: <br />1) Term: A two-year term, from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015. <br />2) Salary Increase: Effective July 1, 2013, the base salary of Sworn employees covered by <br />this MOU shall be increased by one percent (1 %). <br />3) CALPERS Retirement: POA Sworn employees will contribute an additional 1.08% to <br />CaIPERS for the cost of the 3% at 50 service retirement benefit, for a total contribution of <br />9%. Non-sworn employees will reduce their payment for the 2.7% at 55 retirement benefit <br />from 11.8% to 10.5%. <br />4) Medical Insurance: Effective January 1, 2013, the City will pay $1,335.00 per month <br />towards employee medical insurance. <br />25A-1
