Amendment to the Contract for <br />Demolition of 1129 S. Orange Avenue <br />December 20, 2004 <br />Page 2 <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City of Santa Ana acquired a number of residential properties for the <br />McFadden Avenue realignment project. After the project was complete, <br />several remnant parcels remained. The property located at 1129 S. Orange <br />Avenue (Exhibit 1) was identified for assemblage and development of new <br />single - family homes by the Community Redevelopment Agency. In order to <br />move forward with the project, demolition of the existing structure is <br />required. <br />A public notice requesting bids for the demolition of this unit was <br />published in the Orange County Register and advertised online via The <br />Blue Book of Building and Construction. Thirteen bid packages were <br />issued to qualified demolition contractors. A total of three bids were <br />received. A summary of the bids is as follows: <br />Vision Environmental Services (Fullerton) $ 8,888.88 <br />Lange America Inc. (La Mirada) $15,000.00 <br />Southwest Industries (Rancho Cucamonga) $34,700.00 <br />The bid received from Vision Environmental Services was the lowest <br />responsive bid. The project budget (Exhibit 2) in the amount of $13,500 <br />will ensure adequate funding in order to demolish the unit, provide for <br />necessary site work and fund any necessary contingencies. <br />CEQA COMPLIANCE <br />In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, EIR No. 91- <br />03 was certified on May 16, 1994 that includes this parcel. <br />V 50 <br />
