Nib <br />111 <br />yVn° i Y <br />c <br />March 17`h 2014 <br />Dear Mayor Pulido, City Councilmembers, and City Manager Cavazos: <br />LATINO <br />A�ass <br />On behalf of the Wellness Corridor Steering Committee (WCSC), we would like to thank all of <br />you and City staff who have worked on the creation of the five -year Strategic Plan. We <br />understand the importance of this plan, and have actively participated in providing input and <br />recommendations at community input forums, through online surveys, and through online <br />communication. We want to commend you on your leadership and efforts in working with <br />Latino Health Access, non - profits, and community residents that are members of the WCSC to <br />engage the Santa Ana community. The fruit of this effort has resulted in a plan that reflects <br />values of health and wellness throughout the city. At the March WCSC meeting, the <br />Committee reviewed the plan and agreed the plan is compatible with the goals and objectives <br />in the Wellness Corridor Strategic Plan. <br />As you move forward in reviewing and adopting this Strategic Plan, we would like to point out <br />some highlights in the plan that will support the Wellness Corridor Initiative. The WCSC looks <br />forward to working with the City to make sure the strategies are carried out and objectives met, <br />particularly those impacting the Wellness Corridor area. Below you will find specific objectives <br />that the WCSC has identified as points of collaboration with the City (please note words <br />underlined and comments): <br />Community Safety Goal: <br />• All objectives, but particularly 1: Modernize the Community Policing philosophy to <br />improve customer service, crime prevention and traffic /pedestrian /bicycle safety. <br />Youth, Education, Recreation Goal: <br />• All objectives, but particularly 4: Partner with groups and organizations to promote <br />education, senior services, iob training and development for all Santa Ana residents (in <br />downtown businesses) <br />Economic Development Goal: <br />• All objectives, but particularly 2 & 4: <br />
