5 <br />ACTIO N PLAN 1 2010/11- 2014/15 CITY OF SANTA ANA CONSOLIDATED PLAN <br />ACTIO <br />• The City will consider creating a reasonable accommodation ordinance that includes <br />a local definition of disability <br />• The City will evaluate the feasibility of visitability and universal design concepts for <br />incorporation into the Municipal Code. <br />• The City, in partnership with the FHCOC and other service agencies, will examine <br />certain private sector impediments identified in the Al in the following areas: <br />• Housing discrimination <br />• Real estate advertising <br />• Blockbusting. <br />• Denial of reasonable accommodations or modifications for disabled persons <br />• Hate crimes <br />• Unfair lending <br />In furtherance of addressing the private sector impediments identified in the Regional Al, <br />and in addition to the strategies listed above, FHCOC will endeavor to undertake the <br />following actions as resources allow: <br />• Revise its website to: 1) explain the discrimination complaint investigation and resolution <br />process, and to allow the online completion of a complaint form; 2) to include additional <br />information on how individuals can detect or realize they may have been a victim of <br />illegal housing discrimination; and, 3) include quarterly, general updates on the filing of <br />complaints and their resolutions, that do not compromise client confidentiality. <br />• Prepare a summary of the accomplishments each year and transmit it to the City in <br />August of each year for inclusion in the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation <br />Report (CAPER), which is published every September. <br />• Periodically review "for rent" and "for sale" ads published in local print and online media. <br />In particular print and online ads run by the Orange County Register and its associated <br />local area weeklies, the Los Angeles Times, the PennySaver, the Recycler, and Craigslist <br />will be included in the review. <br />• Encourage the Orange County Register to publish a Fair Housing Notice in the "For Rent" <br />classified section and to identify the FHCOC as an agency that can respond to fair housing <br />questions. <br />• Encourage the Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register to publish a "No Pets" <br />disclaimer that indicates rental housing owners must provide reasonable <br />5 Per the City's Al, "visitability" refers to housing designed to be lived in by people who have trouble with steps <br />or who use wheelchairs or walkers.
