A. The Department Head will review the employee's submitted request and within <br />sixty (60) days will make one of the following determinations: <br />1. Will support the employee's request. <br />a. If the Department Head supports the employee's request for a <br />classification review, he or she shall forward the request to the <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services along with justification <br />for support of the employee's request. <br />b. The Department Head shall notify the employee that his or her <br />request has been submitted to the Executive Director of Personnel <br />Services. <br />2. Will not support the employee's request. <br />a. If the Department Head does not support the employee's request <br />for a classification review, he or she shall notify the employee of <br />this decision in writing and set forth the basis for the decision. <br />b. If the Department Head does not support the employee's request, <br />but agrees that some of the duties and /or responsibilities being <br />performed by the employee are those of a higher level City <br />classification, he or she can do the following: <br />i. Return the employee to performance of the duties and/or <br />responsibilities of their proper classification. <br />ii. Eliminate the higher duties and/or responsibilities being <br />performed by the employee, for which the City has agreed <br />are those for which it shall provide higher compensation. <br />B. Any employee request for classification review approved by the Department Head <br />shall be forwarded to the Executive Director of Personnel Services. The <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services shall confirm receipt of the request in <br />writing to the employee. Within sixty (60) days of receipt of the request, the <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services shall notify the employee and <br />Department Head of the decision as to whether a study will be conducted. If the <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services determines that a study is appropriate, <br />the Executive Director of Personnel Services shall so notify the employee and the <br />Department Head in writing and shall provide the employee and Department <br />Head with an approximate start date for the study. <br />C. All determinations of the Department Head and the Executive Director of <br />Personnel Services are final. <br />44 <br />
