established in this section shall be designated as a Senior Police Sergeant II and shall be <br />paid at a rate set twenty -five (25) salary rate ranges (approximately 12.5 %) above his or <br />her then current base monthly salary step in the Police Sergeant class. The criteria for <br />such designation shall be as follows: <br />A. Completion of seven (7) years of municipal police experience and be eligible for <br />"B" step of the base salary rate range of the Police Sergeant class. <br />"Eligible" as defined only for Section 6.7(A) means that a Police Sergeant shall <br />be considered for advancement from Step "D" or "E" to Senior Police Sergeant II <br />upon the completion of the required length of service as provided in Section 4.2 <br />and Exhibit A of this Agreement; the effective date of such increase shall be on <br />the first day of the month following completion of such required length of service. <br />B. Completion (acquisition) of at least ninety (90) educational and /or training units; <br />or possession of an Associate of Arts academic degree from an accredited college <br />with an additional thirty (30) or more education or training units. <br />C. Approval of the Police Chief. <br />6.8 Senior Police Sergeant III. Any officer holding the rank of Police Sergeant in the Santa <br />Ana Police Department, regardless of duty assignment, who fulfills the requirements <br />established in this section shall be designated as a Senior Police Sergeant III and shall be <br />paid at a rate set thirty (30) salary rate ranges (approximately 15 %) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step in the Police Sergeant class. The criteria for such <br />designation shall be as follows: <br />A. Completion of nine (9) years of municipal police experience and be eligible for <br />"E" step of the base salary rate range of the Police Sergeant class. <br />"Eligible" as defined only for Section 6.8(A) means that a Police Sergeant shall <br />be considered for advancement from Step "D" or `B" to Senior Police Sergeant <br />III upon the completion of the required length of service as provided in Section <br />4.2 and Exhibit A of this Agreement; the effective date of such increase shall be <br />on the first day of the month following completion of such required length of <br />service. <br />B. Completion (acquisition) of at least one hundred twenty (120) <br />educational /training units; or possession of an Associate of Arts academic degree <br />from an accredited college with an additional sixty (60) or more <br />educational /training units. <br />C. Approval of the Police Chief. <br />6.9 Career Development Program - Non - Sworn. Effective the first day of the first full month <br />23 <br />
