A <br />City of Santa Ana, PWA I Agreement Exhibit <br />RFP - ON -CALL ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES FOR WATER AND SEWER MAIN <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />Prepare Base Maps <br />a. Base Maps shall be prepared at a scale of V =1' using data from Items 2 (Data <br />Gathering) and 6 (Design Survey). <br />b. Plot utilities on base maps. Location of utilities will be based on information <br />obtained form available records, as revised due to USA markings and utility <br />responses. <br />8. Geotechnical Investigation (Assume 3 borings) <br />a. Prepare a geotechnical investigation to determine bedding and backfill <br />requirements, assist with pipe material selections and determine the elevation of <br />the groundwater table. <br />b. Evaluate geologic and seismic conditions in accordance with applicable state <br />and local requirements. <br />C. Determine maximum stable side slopes to be used for trench excavations. <br />d. Collect geotechnical data as needed to recommend construction methods for <br />new pipeline installations. <br />Alignment Selection <br />a. Evaluate alignment alternatives considering cost of construction, utility locations, <br />citizen impacts, jurisdictional concerns and permit requirements. In addition, <br />consider access to adjacent properties and traffic control during construction. <br />b. Prepare sketches of proposed connections to existing facilities. <br />c. Discuss alignment alternative with the City and obtain input prior to the <br />completion of the 50% plan sheets. <br />d. The Consultant shall prepare a draft technical memorandum documenting (TM) <br />the basis for design of the sewer main replacement. The City's comments on the <br />draft TM will be incorporated into the final TM. <br />e. When required, the Consultant shall prepare a draft technical memorandum <br />documenting TM documenting the basis for design of the water main <br />replacement. The City's comments on the draft TM will be incorporated into the <br />final TM. <br />10. Prepare Preliminary Plans (50% completion Level) <br />a. Title sheet for each project. <br />b. Plan Sheets. <br />c. Draft of technical specifications. <br />d. All plans shall be prepared in a compatible Microstation V8i Select Series 3 <br />format and shall be on 24" x 36" mylar sheets. Plan and profile sheets are <br />prepared in 1 " =20' horizontal scale and 1 "= 2" vertical scale. Sketches may vary. <br />Plans shall conform to City of Santa Ana CADD Standards. <br />11. Preliminary Plan Submittal <br />a. Submit (4) sets of full -size prints of the preliminary plan and (4) drafts of <br />specifications for City review. <br />b. Perform job walk to identify conflicts and inconsistencies. Meet with City to <br />review plan check comments and obtain input. <br />c. Perform site visiVjob walks of all proposed alignments to review constructability <br />issues. <br />19 <br />
