provide alternate /supplemental irrigation to stressed plant material and /or turf <br />areas shall result in up to a $300 per day penalty to the Contractor. Stressed turf <br />or plant material Is not acceptable unless approved by the Director's <br />Representative. <br />(2) Contractor's Certified Irrigation Technicians (CIT) shall be under the direction <br />of the CMIT and assist the CMIT In making repairs to the irrigation system per <br />the City of Santa Ana Park Services specifications and details. <br />(3) Contractor's Certified Irrigation Technician Assistants (CITA) shall be under <br />the direction of the CMIT and CIT and shall assist the CMIT and CIT by preparing <br />an irrigation system for repair. The CITA may trench, clean, prepare the job by <br />bringing the proper tools to the site, bring pipe and fittings to the site, and <br />otherwise assist the CMIT and CIT in job preparation. To allow the CITA to gain <br />training he /she may perform repairs of the irrigation system only in the direct <br />presence of the CMIT and/or CIT. The CMIT and /or CIT must be present at all <br />times to direct/train the CITA in the art of professional quality irrigation system <br />repairs. Should the CITA be found performing repairs without the presence of <br />the CMIT and /or CIT a penalty of up to $500 will be issued to the Contractor <br />b) Operation of Automatic Irrigation Controllers <br />Where the operation of automatic irrigation controllers is required, the Contractor's CMIT <br />shall: <br />(1) Not duplicate any coded City key furnished by the Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Agency for access and operation of the controller. <br />(2) Surrender all keys furnished by the Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Agency at the end of the contract period or at any time deemed <br />necessary by the Director's Representative to prevent serious loss to the City of <br />Santa Ana. <br />(3) Protect the security of City property by keeping controller cabinet and building <br />doors locked at all times. <br />(4) Refrain from using locked premises for storage of materials, supplies or tools, <br />except as approved by the Director's Representative. <br />(5) Program normal irrigation between the hours of 10 :00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. <br />unless alternative hours are approved by City. <br />c) Water Conservation <br />(1) The Contractors Certified Master Irrigation Technician (CMIT) shall meet <br />once a month with the Director's Representative to review the Monthly Water <br />Conservation Report to discuss water conservation strategies. These <br />discussions may include, but not be limited to, the Contractor turning off irrigation <br />systems during periods of rainfall and times when suspension of irrigation is <br />desirable to conserve water while remaining within the guidelines of the EAW. <br />(2) When Park Services determines that plant material (turf, groundcover, <br />shrubs, and trees) must be irrigated, all controllers shall be activated within <br />twenty- four(24) hours. <br />^� Districts 1, 4 and 5 Park Landscape RFP <br />Pa e 30 <br />19 - 36 <br />
