EXHIBIT A <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR ON -CALL SEWER AND WATER SYSTEM REPAIR SERVICES <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />The City is soliciting proposals from qualified professional construction firms to provide on -call <br />emergency repair services on an as- needed basis. The City will select up to three firms to provide <br />these services. <br />The purpose of this request for proposals is to obtain qualified construction firms to augment the City's <br />capacity to restore sewer and water service in the event of system failures. The City staffs maintenance <br />and repair crews to keep the sewer and water systems functional. In order to be prepared to respond <br />to large scale emergencies, the City must retain qualified contracting firms experienced in substructures <br />and sewer and water utility facility construction on an as- needed basis. <br />The City of Santa Ana is located in the County of Orange in Southern California. The City encompasses <br />27.2 square miles and a population over 325,000 people. <br />The City of Santa Ana Public Works Agency — Water Resources Division oversees and maintains the <br />daily operations of the Water System and Sanitary Sewer System. The City of Santa Ana's water <br />system has an average day demand of about 43 MG with 45,000 services. It is comprised of <br />approximately 444 miles of water main, 45 MG of storage at 5 sites, 7 MWD connections, 21 <br />groundwater wells, 7 pump stations, 4 pressure regulating stations and utilizes 2 pressure zones. The <br />City's sanitary sewer system has approximately 8,000 manholes, 390 miles of sewer mains and 2 lift <br />stations. The sewer system collects all sewage and transports it to the Orange County Sanitation <br />District for treatment. <br />Contractor must be able to respond to City's request for emergency repair work in a timely manner. <br />The contractor shall be available 24/7 and ready to respond in the event of an emergency. <br />Service calls shall be responded to within one hour. Contractor's repair crews must be able to <br />arrive at job site within 8 hours of approval from City to commence work. <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br />The scope of work will include but not be limited to the excavation, procurement of materials, <br />installation, backfill and paving and all other work necessary to complete the following types of tasks: <br />The repair and construction of Vitrified Clay Pipe (VCP) and Polyvinylchloride (PVC) sewer mains <br />ranging from 6" to 30" in diameter. <br />a. The repair and construction of sewer manholes <br />b. The repair and construction of sewer cleanouts <br />c. The repair and construction of sewer laterals <br />d. Dewatering of excavations <br />e. By pass pumping <br />f. Traffic Control <br />g. Site remediation and cleaning <br />5 iF F1151 <br />
