to improve their literacy or numeracy skills by at least one functional grade <br />equivalency. <br />A. Specify how your agency will provide tutoring or tutoring resources to youth that <br />need to improve their literacy/numeracy skills. <br />The OCCC Charter School teachers will interact with WIA Corpsmembers on a daily <br />basis as they attend class five days a week, Monday -Friday, and provide additional <br />tutoring as needed. Week -end work/school activities will be scheduled as needed <br />and appropriate. The WIA Program Specialist (case manager) will meet at least <br />monthly to monitor the participant's progress in meeting their Individual Service <br />Strategy goals, and other work/school/personal issues that may arise. <br />Other organizations such as social services, counseling centers, probation/parole, <br />etc., may be providing outside support services as in-kind support for this <br />proposal. Many WIA participants may come to the OCCC already involved is such <br />services while others may be referred. The OCCC strongly believes in the All <br />Youth, One System Concept which promotes networking with many outside <br />entities to ensure all WIA Corpsmembers are linked to a variety of support services <br />in the community. <br />X. Mentoring/Support (not a required element of the program) <br />A. Specify how your agency will provide mentoring to youth. <br />OCCC staff members will meet daily with WIA Corpsmembers to deliver program <br />components. Corpsmembers will be assigned to work in a crew which is <br />supervised by one of the OCCC's Crew Supervisors. The Crew Supervisor will work <br />Monday -Thursday with WIA Corpsmembers to complete assigned work projects. <br />Other OCCC staff or interns meet with WIA Corpsmembers as needed for <br />specialized trainings, workshops, or individualized follow up regarding <br />work/school/personal issues that may arise. <br />Specify what types of support your agency will offer youth who are facing <br />challenging obstacles such as: family dysfunctions, mental health issues, substance <br />abuse, low self-esteem, probation, gang issues, parenting issues, etc. <br />WIA Corpsmembers will be provided with supportive services such as referrals for <br />legal, medical, substance abuse, health, housing, family/personal guidance and <br />counseling. <br />C. Will your agency offer mental health services or referrals. Please describe. <br />The OCCC refers Corpsmembers to other agencies for mental health related issues <br />as needed. <br />D. Will your agency provide supportive services to youth such as gas cards, bus pass, <br />childcare assistance, etc.. If so, please describe and include the Supportive Service <br />Policy as Attachment G. <br />The OCCC provides assistance with tools, books, clothing, other items needed for <br />interviews, job requirements, advanced training, bus passes, and gas cards. <br />EXHIBIT A 19 <br />
