CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />Lines and grades for construction shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. All work under <br />this contract shall be built in accordance with the lines and grades shown on the plans. Staking <br />shall be performed on all items ordinarily requiring grade and alignment at intervals normally <br />accepted by the agencies and trade involved. <br />The contractor is responsible for locating and tying existing survey monuments and centerline <br />points prior to construction, reestablishing such monuments or points after construction, and <br />filing a Corner Record with the County Surveyor before the project may be considered for <br />acceptance by the agency. <br />All such surveys, including construction staking, shall be under the supervision of a California - <br />Licensed Land Surveyor or Civil Engineer authorized to perform surveying. <br />The Contractor shall provide a copy of the office calculations and grade sheets to the Owner's <br />Inspector. The Contractor shall be responsible for any error in the finished work, and shall <br />notify the Engineer within 24 hours of any discrepancies or design errors discovered during <br />staking. <br />The contractor shall cover the cost of the survey service, which is considered incidental work, <br />and no additional compensation will be allowed therefor. <br />2 -10 AUTHORITY OF THE BOARD AND THE ENGINEER <br />Add the following to this subsection: <br />The Engineer shall retain all written protests filed, and, upon completion of the work, shall <br />submit all such protests to the City Council, together with a copy of the Engineer's prior written <br />decisions for consideration by the City Council at the time of final acceptance of the work. The <br />Contractor or its representative may appear and be heard by the City Council concerning any <br />such protests. In connection with acceptance of the work and final payment under the <br />Contract, the City Council shall make its determination with respect to each protest filed with <br />the Engineer. The decision of the City Council shall be final. <br />2 -11 INSPECTION <br />Add the following to this subsection: <br />The City may provide inspection for an 8 -hour day and 40 -hour week for normal working days. <br />Inspection work requested by the contractor outside of the prescribed working hours shall be <br />paid by the contractor at the City's overtime rate. <br />S -2c <br />23A -62 <br />
