REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />DECEMBER 9, 2014 <br />TITLE: <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING THE <br />NOVEMBER 4, 2014 GENERAL MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION RESULTS: CITY MEASURES <br />AND THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN <br />OFFICERS <br />" �, � <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 18` Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution declaring the results of the General Municipal Election held in the City on <br />November 4, 2014. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On November 1.8, 2014, the Orange County Registrar of Voters certified the results of the canvass <br />of the Santa Ana General Municipal Election returned for Measure AA, BB, and CC, and the <br />election of certain officers. <br />Pursuant to State Elections Code Sections 9217, 9221, 10263 and 10264, the City Council must <br />adopt a resolution reciting the fact of the election results as follow: (a) The whole number of votes <br />cast in the city; (b) The names of the persons voted for; (c) The measures voted upon; (d) For <br />what office each person was voted for; (e) The number of votes given at each precinct to each <br />person and for and against each measure; and (f) The number of votes given in the city to each <br />person and for and against each measure. <br />6 Measure AA considered and approved by the voters at said election, adopts: <br />ORDINANCE NO. NS -2860 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE PEOPLE OF SANTA ANA <br />MODERNIZING THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS UTILITY USERS TAX AND <br />REDUCING THE UTILITY USERS TAX RATE FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS, <br />ELECTRICITY, GAS AND WATER FROM 6% TO 5'/2 % <br />• Measure BB considered and approved by the voters at said election, adopts: <br />55A-1 <br />
