Project <br />Project <br />Santa Ana -Delhi Channel <br />URS prepared preliminary design documents for an urban runoff <br />' Joseph Long <br />Diversion <br />diversion facility to be located in the downstream portion of the <br />• Tama Snow <br />Santa Ana, CA <br />Santa Ana Delhi Channel system near the intersection of Mesa <br />Drive and Irvine Avenue. The proposed project is intended to <br />collect non-stormwater discharges from the Delhi Channel and <br />divert the flow to the sanitary sewer system for further treatment, or <br />to the adjacent Newport Beach Golf Course reservoir to be used for <br />irrigation purposes. The proposed project addresses the potential <br />urban surface water quality issues associated with discharges to <br />the Upper Newport Bay. <br />Edinger Avenue <br />URS was responsible for designing the reconstruction of <br />' Stephanie <br />Reconstruction/ <br />approximately one mile of a major city arterial, including providing <br />Hillebrand <br />Resurfacing <br />field reviews and preparing construction plans and cost estimates. <br />Santa Ana, CA <br />The project involved cold milling and resurfacing of the existing <br />asphalt and affected side streets. <br />Orange County Great <br />URS prepared a modification to the Great Park Master Plan for the <br />` Joseph Long <br />Park, Master Plan <br />1,200 acre Orange County Great Park URS is also providing <br />• Patricia <br />Modification /On -Call <br />ongoing support to the City of Irvine /Orange County Great Park <br />Trauth <br />Environmental Services/ <br />Corporation on environmental investigation /remediation, regulatory <br />' Nathan <br />Water Management Plan <br />permitting and compliance, and other technical support services. <br />Chase <br />Irvine, CA <br />Furthermore, URS developed a Water Management Plan for the <br />long -term build -out of the Orange County Great Park to capture <br />storm water from 5,550 acres of contributing watersheds that will be <br />stored in onsite water features, and treated and reused for irrigation <br />of Great Park landscaping. <br />D.] Project Understanding <br />'The City of Santa Ana, in collaboration with the Cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and the Orange <br />County Flood Control District are in development of an Urban Discharge Recovery Project located in <br />the Santa Ana Delhi Channel adjacent to the existing Newport Beach Golf Club. The over - arching intent <br />of the project is to provide a regional treatment facility that addresses trash removal from the tributary <br />watershed, low -flow urban discharge pollutant removal, and diverts pollutant laden discharges to the <br />sanitary sewer system for further treatment and recycling of water for indirect water supply augmentation. <br />Initially, the proposed project was developed to provide Stakeholders within the tributary watershed the <br />ability to address current and future TMDL's associated with heavy metals, selenium concentrations, <br />trash removal and bacteria removal for discharges into the Newport Back Bay. Initially the project was <br />developed to provide treatment and diversions for only the urban low flow discharges from the tributary <br />watershed with an anticipated flow rate of 0.40 cfs. Revisions to the initial project concept were also <br />incorporated to increase the urban discharge flow rate from 0.40 cfs to approximately 100 cfs with the <br />primary pollutant of concern being trash and debris removal. Based on a review of the Draft Staff Report <br />for Proposed Trash Amendments prepared by the Division of Water Quality, State Water Resources <br />Control Board, California Environmental Protection Agency Uune 2014), it appears that there are <br />significant planned changes in addressing trash and debris within the urban and natural water ways that is <br />generated by human activities. <br />UM 25F831 - <br />
