WIOA YOUTH PR <br />REQUIREMENTS <br />1. Provide an objective assessment of academic skill levels and service needs of each participant. <br />Assessments shall include: <br />a. Review of basic skills <br />b. Occupational skills <br />c. Prior work experience <br />d. Employability interest <br />e. Aptitudes <br />f. Support service needs <br />2. Develop service strategies for each participant that: <br />a. Directly links to 1 or more indicators of performance, <br />b. Identifies career pathways that include education and employment goals, <br />c. Lists appropriate achievement objectives, <br />d. Identifies appropriate planned services. <br />3. Provide the following: <br />a. Activities leading to attainment of secondary school diploma or,;equivalents <br />b. Preparation for postsecondary education and training <br />c. Strong linkages between academic instruction and occupational education that <br />leads to recognized postsecondary credential <br />d. Preparation for unsubsidized employment <br />e. Effective connections to employers in in- demand industries and occupations of the <br />local and regional markets <br />WIOA PROGRAM ELEMENTS <br />uth Service Providers are highly encouraged to incorporate the following WIOA Elements, but <br />)T all elements are required, except for Elements 3 -Paid Work Experience and 9- Follow -Up <br />1. Tutoring, study skills training, dropout prevention strategies <br />2. Alternative secondary school services, or dropout recovery <br />3. Paid and unpaid work experience that have academic and occupational component which may <br />include (Note: not less than 20% of funds shall be used for paid work experience): <br />a. Summer employment <br />b. Pre - apprenticeship programs <br />c. Internships and job- shadowing <br />d. On- the -job training opportunities <br />4. Occupational skills training — priority for recognized credentials aligned with sectors in- demand <br />5. Education offered concurrently with workforce preparation activities for specific occupation or <br />cluster <br />6. Leadership development — community service and peer- centered activities <br />7. Supportive Services <br />8. Adult mentoring <br />9. Follow -up services for not less than 12 months after exit (Note: this is required) <br />10. Comprehensive guidance and counseling —drug and alcohol, etc. <br />11. Financial literacy <br />12. Entrepreneurial skills training <br />13. Labor market information — career awareness and exploration <br />14. Activities to help youth prepare for and transition to postsecondary education <br />8 <br />19D -12 <br />
