As of January, <br />2014, the County's median income was $84,900. <br />Approximately 80% of families on the program <br />earn less than 30% of the median income, which <br />is $27,100 per year for a family of four. <br />Participants' incomes come from a variety of <br />sources, as illustrated in Chart 6. <br />Nearly half (43%) of participating families have 80% <br />employment income. <br />70% <br />Participating families pay a portion of their 60% <br />monthly rent based upon their income and the 50% <br />payment standard for their unit. The Housing 40% <br />Authority pays the difference between the <br />tenant's portion and the contract rent. This "% <br />payment is the Housing Assistance Payment 20% <br />(HAP). The average HAP for April through io% <br />June was $881. 0% <br />7a7.T� rr4ff.rj <br />HQS Inspections - each assisted unit must be <br />inspected at least annually to ensure it meets <br />the Housing Quality Standards (HQS) in <br />compliance with federal guidelines.
