NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
REGARDING PROPOSED ADOPTION OF WATER AND SEWER RATE INCREASES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on February 17, 2015, the City of Santa Ana (the "City ") City Council will hold a public
hearing to consider proposed changes to the water and sewer rates. The public hearing will be held at 5:45 p.m., or as
soon as possible thereafter, in the City Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701. The purpose of
the hearing is to consider oral testimony and written protests against the proposed changes to the rates for water and
sewer service charges to the parcel for which you are shown as a property owner of record or a tenant directly liable for
the payment of water and /or sewer service charges.
The proposed changes are scheduled to go into effect on March 1, 2015, July 1, 2015, July 1, 2016, July 1, 2017, and July
1, 2018.
The City estimates that for a typical single - family residential customer using 15 hundred cubic feet (HCF) per month,
their monthly water bill will increase $0.99 from a current charge of $44.41 to $45.40 with the first revenue adjustment
and the sewer charge will increase $0.59 from the current charge of $5.18 to $5.76. This represents a total increase of
$1.58 per month on a combined bill basis.
PROPOSED WATER SERVICE CHARGES
There are two parts to the water service charges: A fixed Basic Service Charge and a variable Commodity Charge. The
Basic Service Charge is a fixed amount based on the connection's meter size. The most common meter sizes for
residential properties are 5/8" or 3/4 ". The Commodity Charge is determined by the amount of water served to the
property and is measured in hundred cubic feet (HCF). 1 HCF equals 748 gallons. The City bills on a bi- monthly basis.
The City also provides private fire water service and recycled water to specific customers. Therefore, the City has
updated the Private Fire Service Charge and Recycled Water Commodity Charge. Private fire service connections are
typically associated with fire sprinkler systems. Recycled water connections are typically associated with large irrigation
needs.
Basic Service Charge (Billed bi- monthly)
Meter Size
Current
3/1/2015
7/1/2015
7/1/2016
7/1/2017
7/1/2018
5/8"
$7.00
$7.40
$9.05
$10.70
$12.35
$13.90
3/4"
$11.00
$16.05
$19.65
$23.25
$26.80
$30.20
1"
$16.40
$30.50
$37.30
$44.10
$50.90
$57.30
1 -1/2"
$23.40
$47.85
$58.50
$69.15
$79.85
$89.85
2"
$46.40
$88.25
$107.95
$127.65
$147.30
$165.80
3"
$116.60
$146.05
$178.60
$211.15
$243.70
$274.30
4"
$186.60
$290.45
$355.20
$419.95
$484.70
$545.55
6"
$280.00
$463.70
$567.10
$670.50
$773.90
$871.05
Multi-
$4.20
$4.45
$5.45
$6.40
$7.40
$9.50
Family per
unit charge
Exhibit 2
75A -11
