INC.
Changes in level along an accessible ROT may not exceed ' /a" maximum vertically or Y2" maximum
when beveled at a 1:2 slope (with up to 1/4" in vertical change allowable). Vertical changes greater
than 1/2" must comply with ramp feature requirements. Certain hazards may also be present due to
changes in surface levels (i.e. drop -offs) where adjacent to the ROT.
Factors to consider for compliance with changes in levels include the items as follows:
• Changes in level within the ROT • Thresholds
• Changes in level at area adjacent to ROT • Door mats
• Floor material transitions • Gratings
Samples of solutions to the above conditions are depicted in the figures as follows:
VERTICAL CHANGE IN LEVEL
'
THRESHOLD DESIGN
1/27 MAX
P X.
VERTICAL CHANGE IN LEVEL WITH BEVEL
a
August 27, 2014 SSA Project #14048 Page 17 of 28
