o Board member Iglesias invited City Council to attend the next <br />graduation ceremonies. Council member Tinajero and Reyna <br />expressed appreciation for the offer. <br />Security <br />• City Manager Cavazos indicated City Council added 10 police officer <br />and proposing more positions in the budget. They are doing a great <br />job, but need to add additional officers. <br />• Board member Palacio asked about the park rangers and park <br />ambassadors. On adjoining school /park sites, how does it impact the <br />school sites? <br />• City Manager Cavazos indicated the plan proposes 15 park <br />ambassadors and one police officer that will be supported by current <br />officers. There are 3 options (Option A, B, & C.) that will be considered <br />by City Council. Whatever option is selected there will be no <br />diminishing of security coverage in the parks. <br />• Police Chief Rojas indicated mounted police will be deployed at <br />Santiago Park and will expand to Centennial Park. <br />• Board member Palacio ask how will the city decision impact the school <br />district. <br />• Mr. Mouet, Exec. Director indicated 10 years ago we indicated Park <br />Rangers should not do the task of law enforcement. SAPD should <br />handle law enforcement issues. Currently Park Rangers are <br />dispatched through SAPID dispatchers. Park Rangers clock out at <br />10:OOpm, but the park closes at 11:OOpm. If Park Ambassadors are <br />approved they will coordinate with SAPD. <br />• Council member Tinajero indicated we need to capitalize on our <br />relationship and work together. <br />• Board member Palacio indicated parking is a big issue around schools. <br />Need to look at diagonal parking to increase parking at schools. Need <br />to identity at a future meeting.
