(2) Roots shall be pruned adjacent to the edge of the sidewalk, curb and gutter or <br />other improvements as Indicated. Root pruning cuts adjacent to the sidewalk <br />shall be up to four (4) inches wide /twelve (12) Inches deep, and a minimum of <br />twelve (12) feet in each direction from the centerline of the tree as measured <br />from the top of the sidewalk or other improvements. Root pruning cuts adjacent <br />to the curb shall be four (4) inches wide, eighteen (18) Inches deep, and a <br />minimum of eight (8) feet In each direction from the centerline of the tree as <br />measured from the top of the curb or other Improvements, <br />(3) Root pruning equipment shall be specifically designed for this purpose with <br />cutting teeth sharpened adequately to sever roots In a clean manner and <br />equipped with padded tracks or rubber tires to prevent scraping or marking the <br />sidewalk. <br />(4) After the pruning out has been completed, the Contractor shall install the <br />appropriate amount of root pruning barrier by Deep Root Corporation, or an <br />approved equal. All cuts shall be backfilled immediately upon completion of root <br />pruning and barrier installation at each location. BackfBl material shall consist of <br />soil and /or mulch from root pruning and shall be free of rocks and other debris. <br />All debris generated by these operations shall be immediately removed from the <br />site and properly disposed of by the Contractor, <br />systems within the right- of -way that are damaged or removed as a result of the <br />root pruning operation. Repairs shall be implemented immediately and completed <br />by the end of the same working day. Repairs and replacements shall be at least <br />equal quality and configuration to existing improvements and shall match them In <br />finish and dimension. <br />(6) The Contractor shall submit a lineal foot cost for the root pruning and root barrier <br />installation. The cost of providing all labor, tools, equipment and materials <br />necessary for performing the specified work will be included in the Proposal price <br />and no additional compensation will be allowed. <br />CONSULTANT ARBORIST <br />The contractor will provide the service of a consultant arborlst When requested , the consultant <br />arborlst will be performing tree health assessment which should include 360 degree, ground -based <br />visual Inspections of the tree crown, trunk, trunk flare, above ground roots and branch and stem <br />defects, drilling evaluation of target risk Increment, boring, probing, , sounding, sub - surface root and <br />soil assessment and site conditions around the tree in relation to targets, <br />25B -37 <br />
