During the term of this MOU, if an employee has worked in a <br />higher classification for the required minimum number of <br />consecutive work days to qualify for temporary upgrade <br />assignment pay, the employee shall thereafter receive upgrade <br />pay for each day the employee is assigned to work in the higher <br />classification during the term of this MOU. <br />2. Assignment or special pay additives, such as bilingual pay, shift <br />differential, special skill pay, etc., paid to an employee prior to <br />becoming eligible for Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay, shall <br />not be considered in computing the amount of higher pay to <br />which he or she is entitled in Subparagraph 6.5C above. If the <br />special circumstances upon which the additive is based are <br />also applicable to the Temporary Upgrade Assignment and the <br />employee remains eligible for such pay while in the temporary <br />upgrade position, this amount shall be added to the new salary <br />rate range. <br />3. Temporary Upgrade Assignments which entail moving on <br />employee into a classification represented byan employee unit <br />other than that which represents his or her permanent <br />classification shall not include any change in fringe benefits for <br />the affected employee, <br />4. While working in a Temporary Upgrade Assignment, an <br />employee shall continue to accrue, and have recorded, <br />general, special or normal salary step increases in the <br />employee's permanent position; however, such salary increases <br />shall be paid only to maintain the minimum five percent (5 %) <br />differential above the salary to which an employee is entitled in <br />his or her permanent position. <br />6.6 Confidential Premium - An employee who is routinely and consistently <br />assigned to sensitive positions by a Department Head, involving labor <br />negotiations which require trust and discretion, in accordance with <br />Government Code section 3507.5, will be paid of a rate set 2.5% above his <br />or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />6.7 All assignments of personnel to positions set forth in Sections 6,1 through 6.6 <br />above shall be made or revoked at the discretion of the Department Head. <br />CONFIDENTIAL ASSOCIATION OF SANTA ANA ICASAI MOU: 2015 -2017 <br />25G -26 <br />Page 24 <br />
