ARTICLE IV <br />4.0 SALARIES <br />4.1 Basic Compensation Plan. There is hereby established a basic compensation plan for all <br />members of the Association who are now employed or will in the future be employed in any <br />of the designated classifications of employment listed in this MOU and its attachments. <br />4.2 SalarySchednle. The basic salary schedule, attached hereto in a matrix form as Exhibit "A ", <br />is comprised of four (4) steps or rate ranges of pay for sworn (CaIPERS "Safe(y") employees <br />and five (5) steps or rate ranges of pay for non -sworn (CaIPERS "Miscellaneous ") <br />employees. <br />The steps within each range are identified by the letters "A" through "D" inclusive forsworn <br />(CaIPERS "Safety ") classifications and "AA" through "D" inclusive for non -sworn <br />(CaIPERS "Miscellaneous ") classifications, with Step "A" being the lowest step for sworn <br />(CaIPERS "Safety") and Step "AA' being the lowest step for non -sworn (CaIPERS <br />"Miscellaneous ") classifications. <br />The assignment of classes to salary rate ranges during the term of this MOU is listed in <br />Exhibit "B," which is attached and made a part hereof as though set forth herein. <br />4.3 Salaries. <br />A. The base salaries of employees covered by thus MOU shall be adjusted as follows: <br />Effective July 1, 2015, employees covered by this MOU shall receive a salary <br />increase of 5 salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5 %. <br />2. Effective July 1, 2016, employees covered by this MOU shall receive a salary <br />increase of 5 salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5 %. <br />Should any other employee bargaining unit of the City receive a salary <br />increase greater than the increases set forth in Subsections 1 and 2, above, <br />payable during the tern of this MOU, the employees covered by this MOU <br />shall also receive that higher salary increase at the same time as it is received <br />by the other employee bargaining unit. <br />4. The City and Association agree that upon the expiration of this MOU and <br />during the period of good faith negotiations for a subsequent contract, salary <br />and benefits shall continue at the then current rate. <br />B. The parties agree that the City may, at its sole discretion, alter its payroll practices to <br />eliminate the salary and wage step increases system as set forth in its current payroll <br />251 -8 <br />
