Corpsmembers can also receive certifications in customer service, forklift and chainsaw <br />operation, safe food handling, and computer software. <br />No other organizations in Orange County provide as many hours of work experience—up to 29 <br />hours a week. Corpsmembers participate in on-the-job training in a variety of industries <br />throughout the county. They do not simply visit companies and businesses in various industries; <br />they work there. Corpsmembers have done externships in many industries, including the <br />hospitality/tourism industry at local hotels, spas, and restaurants. They have also participated <br />in a partnership with the Fullerton Arboretum on the campus of California State University <br />Fullerton and local social enterprise Monkey Business Cafe, which benefits foster youth, called <br />"Farm to Table." Corpsmembers work both on the arboretum's farm and at the cafe, <br />developing a strong connection between where food grows and the process involved in <br />delivering it to the table. OCCC crews provide recycling services to many companies and <br />businesses, including Downtown Disney. We have Corpsmembers working at a number of CVS <br />Pharmacies throughout Orange County, giving them experience in the field of healthcare. <br />Corpsmembers have also worked at the Santa Ana One Stop Center, exposing them to a variety <br />of career opportunities. <br />Additionally, we have partnered with Vital Link services that provide hands-on career <br />exploration experiences for youth, helping them carve out their own unique career path. Trips <br />and tours to local businesses help youth sort through their interests, get excited, and "try on" a <br />career for a day. <br />Corpsmembers and students have many opportunities to hear from employers, to attend job <br />fairs and participate in career exploration workshops. Corpsmembers participating in on-the- <br />job training receive feedback and evaluations from their employers and supervisors regularly. <br />7. Preparation for Post -secondary Education and Training <br />A. WIOA only accepts certifications that are accredited by a State recognized educational <br />entity or are recognized by employers. <br />The OCCC Charter School is a fully accredited c h a r t e r school recognized by the State of <br />California and authorized by the Mono County Office of Education. This collaborative allows <br />the Target Population, for In -School Youth and Out -of -School Youth in need of educational <br />services, to earn high school credits that count toward a high school diploma, build skills to <br />pass the California High School Exit Exam, and increase Literacy/Numeracy Skills, <br />B. Special consideration for organizations that offer preparation for postsecondary education <br />and training in high -demand industries. <br />WIA Corpsmembers research jobs on 0*NET to obtain expected job growth, wages and <br />educational requirements. Subsequently, depending on the training that is needed, <br />Corpsmembers are referred to ROP, Community Colleges, Apprenticeship Programs and <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
