City Response to SABHC Funding Proposal <br />65A -19 <br />The City has previously partnered with local non - profits to <br />expand participation In the Affordable Care Act and Mack- <br />Cal programs. Outreach centers were created during the <br />open enrollment period at various community centers and <br />at City sponsored events. Funding was provided by <br />Funding for RFP to sub - contract health enrollers & <br />Cmty Development In <br />Federal and State outreach programs such as Covered <br />navigators to enroll Santa Ana residents In ACA & Medi- <br />collaboration with <br />California. The City remains open to continuing these <br />Cal. <br />Community Orgs _ <br />$ 200,000,00 partnerships with the area's based health enrollers. <br />The City of Santa Ana has hired 21 Interns since July 2014 <br />Expansion of youth Internship program, Including to <br />after the policy was adopted as part of the 5 -year strategic <br />connect students with community -based health careers <br />Cmty Development in <br />plan. The City Is currently recruiting 11 more interns for <br />(to address shortage of health care providers in Santa <br />collaboration with <br />the 2015 -2016 school year. These Interns serve <br />Ana) _ _ <br />Community Orgs <br />$ 100,000.00 throughout every Department In the City. <br />In March of 2014 the City Council voted to work with <br />Mental health and wellness services forvulnerable <br />Taller San Jose and Saint Joseph's Community Hospital to <br />communities, Including a Youth Wellness Program for <br />renovate the historic YMCA as a 19,000 sq ft, fitness and <br />low Income families /refugee and immigrant families <br />Craty Development In <br />wellness center. Staff members are currently working with <br />that Include physical activity, healthy eating, arts and <br />collaboration with <br />these community partners to ensure the success of this <br />crafts, music and scholarship programs._ <br />community orgs <br />$ 500,000.00 proposed $18 million wellness facility, <br />Funding for the Check -in Center Identified and authorized <br />by the City pending the approval of a site location, The <br />Additional funding for the check -in renter pilot program <br />City's currently proposed location would require the <br />for the homeless community, to cover Improved storage <br />approval ofthe Orange County Board of Supervisors, <br />and sanitation services, and allowfor the centerto be <br />Cmty Development In <br />Alternative site proposals are being reviewed and City <br />open during times that accommodate for homeless <br />collaboration with <br />staff welcomes additional stakeholder participation in <br />peoples schedules. _ _ _commu <br />nityorgs <br />$ 100,000.00 addressing the needs of the City's homeless community. <br />7,960,000.00 <br />65A -19 <br />
