Notwithstanding the foregoing, for any affected employee who is in jeopardy of <br />losing vacation because of department staffing needs, may with approval of the <br />Police Chief, Executive Director of Personnel and City Manager, receive a 30 -day <br />extension beyond the normal cutoff date so that such employee will not lose <br />vacation time <br />10.6 Excess Usage. If vacation time off is used in excess of that available, such excess <br />vacation time off will be, first, deducted from any available compensatory time off <br />acerual; finally, deducted from the next scheduled wage or salary payment. <br />10.7 Time Off Banks. Employee Time Off Banks exist for each employee in the unit. Time <br />off will be computed on an annual basis. Separate banks will be maintained for vacation, <br />holidays, and compensatory time, respectively, based on existing policies applicable to <br />each. Time off from each bunk may be taken in increments as small as one half (1/2) <br />hour, with fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher multiple of one half (1/2) <br />hour. <br />Each affected employee shall be afforded the opportunity to submit time off selection(s) <br />and the Police Chief or his designee shall make every reasonable effort to accommodate <br />the employee's preference(s). The time at which an employee shall take his or her leave <br />time shall be determined by the Police Chief, with due regard for the wishes of the <br />employee and particular regard for the needs of the service. <br />NOTE: All other policies and procedures described in Article VIII, "Overtime ", Article <br />IX, "Holidays ", and Article X, "Vacation" will apply to the Time Off Banks. However, <br />no employee will be allowed to carry a negative balance in any Time Off Bank. <br />42 <br />25E -44 <br />
