A. Level One - Upon attainment of an Associate in Arts Degree and five (5) years of <br />municipal police experience in the Police Officer or Police Sergeant <br />classification, of which thirty (30) months must be with the City of Santa Ana <br />Police Department, and attainment of "E" step, said employee will be paid at a <br />rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5 %) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step. <br />B. Level Two - Upon attainment of an Associate in Arts Degree and an <br />additional thirty (30) educational units toward a declared Bachelor's degree, and <br />seven (7) years of municipal police experience in the Police Officer or Police <br />Sergeant classification, of which thirty (30) months must be with the City of <br />Santa Ana Police Department, and attainment of `E" step, said employee will be <br />paid at a rate set an additional (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5 %) for a <br />total of 20 salary rate ranges (approximately 10 %) above his or her then current <br />base monthly salary step. If said employee obtains a Bachelor's Degree without <br />attaining an Associate in Arts Degree, he or she will be paid at a rate set twenty <br />(20) salary rate ranges (approximately 10 %) above his or her then current base <br />monthly salary step. <br />C. Level Three. Upon attainment of a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree and nine <br />(9) years of municipal police experience in the Police Officer or Police Sergeant <br />classification, of which thirty (30) months must be with the City of Santa Ana <br />Police Department and attainment of "E" step, said employee will be paid at a <br />rate set an additional (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5 %) for a total of <br />30 salary rate ranges (approximately 15 %) above his or her then current base <br />monthly salary step. <br />ARTICLE VII <br />7.0 TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM <br />7.1 Pur ose. <br />A. To encourage the employees of the City of Santa Ana to take college courses and <br />special training courses which will better enable them to perform their present <br />duties and prepare them for increased responsibilities. <br />B. To provide financial assistance to eligible employees for education and training. <br />C. To establish eligibility requirements, conditions and procedures whereby such <br />assistance may be provided. <br />IM <br />
