established in this section shall be designated as a Senior Police Sergeant III and shall be <br />paid at a rate set thirty (30) salary rate ranges (approximately 15 %) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step in the Police Sergeant class. The criteria for such <br />designation shall be as follows: <br />A. Completion of nine (9) years of municipal police experience and be eligible for <br />"E" step of the base salary rate range of the Police Sergeant class. <br />"Eligible" as defined only for Section 6.8(A) means that a Police Sergeant shall <br />be considered for advancement from Step "D" or "E" to Senior Police Sergeant <br />III upon the completion of the required length of service as provided in Section <br />4.2 and Exhibit A of this MOU; the effective date of such increase shall be on the <br />first day of the month following completion of such required length of service. <br />B. Completion (acquisition) of at least one hundred twenty (120) <br />educational /training units; or possession of an Associate of Arts academic degree <br />from an accredited college with an additional sixty (60) or more <br />educational /training units. <br />C. Approval of the Police Chief. <br />6.9 Career Development Program - Non -Sworn. An incumbent in one of the classes <br />designated as "non- sworn" covered by this MOU shall earn as additional amount as <br />follows: <br />A. Upon attainment of an Associate in Arts Degree and five (5) years' experience <br />with the City of Santa Ana, said employee will be paid at a rate set five (5) salary <br />rate ranges (approximately 2.5 %) above his or her then current base monthly <br />salary step. <br />B. Upon attainment of a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree and with five (5) years' <br />experience with the City of Santa Ana, said employee will be paid at a rate set an <br />additional (5) salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5 %) for a total of 10 salary rate <br />ranges (approximately 5 %) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />If said employee obtains a Bachelor's Degree without attaining an Associate in <br />Arts Degree, he or she will be paid at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges <br />(approximately 5 %) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />6.10 Career Development Pay -Sworn <br />Sworn Employees hired on or after January 1, 2014 shall be eligible to receive Career <br />Development Pay as follows: <br />23 <br />
